What is Vocational Skills?

Vocational Skills at Ryburn Sixth is a tailored course building towards independent living and work skills for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We work at your pace and ability, supporting you and building your confidence.

We focus on attaining Independence Skills, Employability Skills and Functional Maths and English Skills to meet the outcomes on your Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You’ll make progress in community and interaction, develop friendships and end up feeling more confident, fulfilled and prepared for adult life.

What qualifications could I get?

- Functional skills in Maths ranging from Entry level 1 to Level 1
- Functional skills in English ranging from Entry level 1 to Level 1

AQA Unit Award Scheme
Students work through an accredited award scheme based on their interests and the Preparation for Adulthood Outcomes on their EHCP under the headings of:
- Communication and interaction
- Education and/or Training and Preparation for Employment
- Friends, Community Life and Leisure Health
- Preparation for Independent Living
