Choose Ryburn Sixth for your course in History, where our main aim is to encourage appreciation and enjoyment of History. 

We strive to teach our students about a range of different periods and many countries to allow them to receive a wider view of the world. We feel that this course would be perfect for someone who enjoys history and historical events and has enjoyed it through KS3 and 4. It is important to learn about our own country through the discovery of its changes and regulations. 

Our course will enable students to develop many skills including the power of analysis, ability to research and present coherent arguments, both verbal and written. We offer students excellent teaching with high levels of individual support to help students learn and strive to excel. 

This course provides excellent preparation for a wide range of careers such as journalism, law and management. History is a highly regarded academic subject, respected by universities and future employers’ a like. 

 

What will I study?

Qualification: A-level History

Exam board: AQA

You will be assessed through a series of exams and an essay.

Component 1: Exam
Tudor Dynasty from 1485-1605
This period covers the Tudor reigns from Henry VII to Elizabeth I

Component 2: Exam
Russian Revolution
This covers the emergence of Communist Dictatorship and the Stalinist regime

Component 3: 3,500 Word Essay
