Hi, I’m Rachel Brenchley, and I’m Head of Ryburn Sixth. I’m really sorry we can’t meet in person at our Open Evening this year. Hopefully the videos and content on our website give you a good idea of what we’re about. Make sure you watch the students’ own testimonials for an honest view of what it’s like being a student here. We’re always happy to chat with you about your choices and answer any questions you might have.

At Ryburn Sixth, we nurture every student to be the very best they can be. 

We have high attainment and great teaching - the overall quality indicator for teaching and results is very good to excellent. Our teachers are really passionate about their subjects, and they go the extra mile to support you. Every year, we send students to Russell Group universities, and our Ryburn Excel programme supports those students with top grades and ambitions to match.

Pair this with a choice of over 35 different subjects and our convenient location with direct buses from Halifax and trains from Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden and you can see why we have a 30% increase in numbers.

Ours is a friendly and nurturing environment, where we value all our students as individuals. Our class sizes are small, and teachers give a huge amount of individual support to students. They know how to get the best out of you, and Ryburn staff always go the extra mile for their students. We’ve also got a great team of pastoral mentors, who are tireless in supporting students with any issues as soon as they crop up.

Our students form a really supportive and lively community too. Our senior students team organise events and activities and represent student views, making sure our environment and your overall Sixth Form experience is the best it can be.
